It is amazing to me that AMPTP still haven't caved. (Fun fact, the memory trick I used to make sure I get the acronym right is by remembering that is ends in TP, toilet paper) It's Stranger Things Day today and the freaking Duffers are 'working' on the show by making shot lists using Funko Pops as stand ins for the actors. Buy all this new merch for a show we can't get back to making!
This is just silly.
Apparently, AI scans of actors are a major sticking point.

Date: 2023-11-07 08:40 pm (UTC)From:But this kind of argument isn't new. This happens EVERY time technology advances, and business owners try to take advantage of creators without paying them. A big problem is that a few decades back, the kerfluffle over music rights and home video made a lot of businesses start issuing contracts with phrases like "all technologies now existing or invented in the future." That's dangerous because you don't know if there's some future technology you would have moral objections to; it violates the premise of informed consent, because you can't know the risks of things that don't exist yet. I pointed this out at the time. And here we are arguing over AI technology that can have very grave impacts if not used responsibly, so lots of folks want nothing to do with it because, duh, business owners immediately started using it irresponsibly.
If I were a lawyer, I'd be salivating.
