Yeah, horror can struggle with modern tech at times. Tech can move fast so maybe being a little behind the times isn't bad so it doesn't feel stuck in a fleeting moment. Horror often needs to cut people off from people and info, and being all 'no luck with [joke name for reddit here]' is just awkward. Ugh, and how badly would twitter references have aged?

Also, visually, flip phones and flashlights and books just look better
