The Warriors is often lumped in with cult films I like, but I never watched it because it's just about warring gangs in New York. Didn't seem to be my thing, and honestly if I'd seen it earlier I might not have appreciated it. Not because I've matured or anything, but because it's more interesting as a piece of film history, artifact of it's time. I can't necessarily recommend it, the movie is deliberately somewhat amoral and at least two of the Warriors are very okay with sexual violence.
I'd been kinda sorta been meaning to get around to it, but I finally did because I was intrigued by
the writer/direction talking about regretting having had to cut a gay gang from the film.
In short, it's not great for story and it's problematic in some ways, but it's great if you like sweaty bare chests and some amazing shots involving trains and train stations. I was impressed with the cinematography from the opening shots alone. It's especially impressive that this was all shot in 1979.
