I get tons of robocalls. It's coming up on election season, so now those calls are starting again, too. All the people desperate to keep me on the line just a little bit before telling me why they are calling in hopes I'll stay on after they do.

My phone used to tell me who is calling. AT&T no longer does that. It used to be easy to look up phone numbers to see if the 'please call us back' messages are legit or various people trying to scam me due to recent medical bills. Now I just get tons of websites wanting me to register to 'get a full report' and most of the time they don't actually have the listing.

For a while I was getting 20 calls a day until I just stopped answering my phone. I pretty much don't. If a company needs to call the, back, they need to be the first google result for their phone number instead of a Botox Consultant.

Sorry, I am old and annoyed that our modern tech future means certain things get harder and harder as time goes on. I just got a spate of staticy messages and google was only giving me Botox Consultants as results on the number, and it turned out to be people I did need to talk to.

I accidentally wound up with an out of state phone number with the last phone I bought... which turned out to be a mild blessing because it means most of the spam calls I get have AZ area codes. Since I know no one in AZ who isn't saved as a contact, it makes them easy to filter.

But the number of calls I get (I block 'em, but checking my call log still shows how many times they've tried) is obscene.

That's nuts. I get calls from all over. I swear I've seen "yeah, I don't answer my phone" become a more and more common thing.

It absolutely seems to be the new standard for a lot of people. (And in my experience it's way more due to things like this than it is "oh, kids these days just don't know how to talk on the phone".)

I've literally answered the phone and got yelling and threats. The hospital's billing department was sloppy because as soon as I was out, the scams started. Calling people becoming pretty much free has made it as spammy as email.
