I am going to do a better version of this map for my own information. I *had* bought a street atlas of Portland, but I was using that to track walking in daylight only and uh ... what hasn't been happening in a while.

The map I used as a base is weird. It has Belmont marked, but not Hawthorne. Also, it's missing Cathedral Park. If you have seen more than 5 pictures of Portland in your life, you've seen pictures of or from Cathedral Park. St. John's Bridge is one of the most iconic images of Portland, which is funny because it's in an out-of-the-way part of Portland. Cathedral Park is under one end of the bridge.

Blue - Areas I've walked recently within the past few years. Specifically, places I've photowalked before I started the now-derailed Walk All Of Portland project. It's not completely precise. I am sure there are more chunks I've walked but don't remember offhand. I may have missed a block or two in there, but that marked area is 99% done. I totally guessed at where Cathedral Park and a few other things are.

Red - Yeah... I don't feel a pressing need to walk there again. If I do, mid-day only.

Swirl - The Subtraction. You are at the corner of Ladd and Ladd, which do you turn down? Have I walked all of it? Who knows? What is time?

I am the only one who still calls Ladd's Addition by the nick of The Subtraction. It's confusing and I've been lost there a few times. I've had a few surreal experiences among the slanting streets and large rose gardens there.

I've walked most of it, not always on purpose.

X - Marks the Spot. The werewolf, the flower crown skeletons, etc, all from right by there. That is the spot I go back to a lot for 'unimproved' roads and yard art. It's a sweet spot.

! - Oh hey that is one of the places where I've fallen off a cliff. I've been meaning to walk that again and, yanno, not contemplate mortality. But not walking that in fall or winter, it was the trail giving way from being over-saturated with water the caused the problem.

how odd - your map includes the odd little specialty hospital across the street from my place - literally, directly opposite my patio door. I never think of that showing up on a map, as it's such a random, non-draw sort of place
