I went to an actual event last night. I had to put on clothes while caring what I would look like. It's been a while! All my clothes from the before times don't fit me anymore, so I couldn't wear anything that's an old reliable. Even the new shirt I did wear was a bit looser than it should have been. I really need to do something about my clothes situation.
Going out to an event wasn't as weird as I thought it would be.
I'll put the pics in my photowalking post I'll do later today.
Getting there was tricky. It was in an industrial part of town with not a lot of sidewalks, a lot of trucks, and my usual paths down were blocked by homeless encampments. The phrase "It was difficult to navigate to the Night Market" sounds cool, but in reality it was a mess. I literally picked out a couple who I assumed were heading there and followed them, since they seemed to know where they were going. It worked!
I had... a significant amount of free booze. That one guy pretty much poured me 3 fingers of liquor. There was also... at least 20 boozes, beers and wines to sample without repeating any. Wild Roots used tiny cups, but some other places used regular cups and were a bit loose with the pours.
And yes, I may have drunk-bought some sort of artisanal CBD infused hot honey and also washi tape.

I don't typically use or like washi tape, but I'd bought the copper stuff on my way there for a specific purpose and then an artist at the market had Bridges of Oregon, Bridges of Portland and Natural Wonders of Oregon washi tape. The last one is little 'stamps' of The Gorge, Multnomah Falls, Mt Hoot, Crater Lake, and a few other places. I think maybe I should try cutting instead of tearing? Anyway, it was cute. I'm glad I got it.
I had a good time. I'd stopped for a big meal at Laughing Planet on the way over so I didn't need to worry about eating there. There were lots of 'instagram backdrops' but it's awkward to try to use them solo. People kind of expect a line of picture takers and another of people having pictures taken. Trying to do a selfie messes up the rhythm. Also, of course it was Valentine's themed. But, oh well, I was glad to get out... and I'm not hung over this morning because I don't get hung over. I am just tired or something.

Date: 2022-02-15 04:14 am (UTC)From:That sounds like... a lot of booze, damn! I'm glad you're not hungover (and a bit jealous!) To be fair, I've only had a couple truly bad hangovers, plus one time where I think something had been slipped into my drink.
I like the washi tape! I only have a few rolls of washi tape, and it's not my favorite thing in the world to work with. (I think cutting works better than tearing, but my use is limited.) I have seen a lot of really cute designs, so there is non-zero chance I'll wind up buying more at some point. Those ones are really nice!

If I am going to use washi tape, this is what I'd use. I'd also love some non-girly/pastel plaids that aren't part of Christmas multipacks, but oh well.
Getting down into that part of Portland is tricky because of the way the main roads are, you need to go under bridges and over train tracks. (It's where the outside shots of The Runway Job was filmed, with all those concrete overhangs).
