The plot thickens in my neighbor's yard

Shooting my beloved yard pumpkins is surprisingly hard. They tend to be tucked behind a lot of vegetation. They ripen under those broad leaves a lot of the time. The light and shadow tend to be super harsh. All that is bad for subject separation. I want to make a folder of my good shots, but I can't find some of my older ones.
My photography is like broken up by eras. Ever since I started my current folder system things are reasonably organized. Some of my older stuff is also well organized. But the shots from *just before* I started my current system elude me. And of my old-old stuff most is gone from a hard drive crash. Still there are some pictures of mine that should exist somewhere that I just cannot find...
I should not have any lost data since the big HD crash and uh, someone wrecking one of my drives for lulz. I have every other external, including one so old it can't run off of USB power and needs to be plugged into the wall. I am very sure I pulled every file off of every laptop I've ever had. Somehow, a few files are just hiding...

Kitty!! So fluffy!
Pictures with the really stark shadows like the pumpkins is super hard. I like the blossoms in the first one here.
Being unable to find a file you KNOW should be there is the worst! I've got a handful of those that are utter mysteries. Where could they have gone!?
