* Well, there goes Air Quality for maybe the rest of October. I am going to run some errands tonight because it may get medium bad. Not 2020 fires bad, but bad. We may have windows of good air, but as I have learned, AQ can dump fast here so that complicates long photowalks.

Like, medium bad by 20s standards but really bad by Before Times standards.

There is a lot of history when it comes to Anne Rice and fic, so this amused me. It's not fanfic tho, it's... monetizable fan games, I guess? Posting mostly because this is going to make some people, somewhere out there in fandom facepalm so hard

* I really want to read some Ursula K Le Guin novels. I haven't read her fiction. But I am still not yet through Stephen King's Talisman and that was my project for the week... how many weeks ago?

Bleh. Fucking air quality. It really is... a thing to consider how now "eh, pretty bad, but not the worst" would have been "oh god, try not to go outside at all" just a few years ago.

That... really does strike me as astoundingly ironic. (I mean... she did always try to monetize fan engagement right up until she thought she could steal whatever they were doing well, at which point she wanted to threaten them out of existence. So it's maybe partially still on-brand in a sense, even if it never gets to that threat stage nowadays.) Still... pretty ironic.

My younger sibling has been working through a lot of Ursula K Le Guin's work. They read all of Earthsea and a few others, plus several collections of short stories. UKLG is one of the few authors that really excelled at both longer-form and shorter-form work, imo, but I haven't read all that much of her stuff... I need to read a lot more of it. There's so much I need to read, heh.

Right after they announced 100 fires all possibly impacting the valley, we got a strong coastal wind and the air was perfect. Just smelled of leaves. But we are under warning of possible bad things.

I've heard a lot of good things about her, and even went to a live talk of hers once because someone cancelled at the last minute and my roommate was like 'either you come or this goes to waste'. I really want to read some of her stuff, but it's like I blink and days are over.

Hooray for the strong breeze getting the gross air out and bringing in fresh! Though I know it can change SO DAMN FAST if the wind shifts just a tiny bit.

I'm jealous you got to go to a live talk of hers! That's very cool.

But hard same. I have many things I'd like to do - or read/play/watch/etc. - but feel like I have very little time available to do any of it!

Yeah, I wish I'd had the context to have gotten more out of it though!

Time is so baffling. I should be able to do more with my hours, somehow.
