Makeshift Fanfic Trello Thing

* I have a ton of WIPs, but that's not a bad thing. I have a lot of ideas sketched out that I might or might not come back to. I have a few WIPs that I will finish. The rest? If they cooperate I will finish them, if I am stuck I will drop the,

* I technically have a few things done. I did actually finished a story while I had a migraine. (I thought I had finished 2 but I can't find the other one?) Anyway, it's likely drawerfic. It's got a definite arc and ending, which is awesome, but it doesn't feel very in character. I may come back to it and rewrite it, but right now I am focusing on other stuff.

* I have another story off at a beta. Once that's done, do I post it to AO3 or do I prompt for it on the relevant kink meme, wait thirty minutes and then post it there? Do I want something that odd on my account? I do and I don't. (And it doesn't help that I have had to fight some previous kinkmeme fic of mine being miscredited. I'll probably own it and then feel awkward about it.)

* I have two specific BG3 stories I want to complete and have good progress on one. The other isn't quite to a first draft phase but it's getting there. I am currently pushing one pretty hard, trying to get it done.

* I have done work on my Stranger Things stories that I planned to post on October first. They are getting closer but, only so many hours in a day.

tl:dr - I've done a lot of work and will hopefully have stuff to post soon

Nice! I'm glad that you've got some stuff to finish and some stuff to finish if it cooperates.

You can always come back to something that's uncooperative now. Same with the drawerfic. You might decide to repurpose it later.

I'd say definitely DO own the kinkmeme thing, though I also understand the "yes, and I will feel weird about it" aspect. Sucks you had stuff miscredited. :/

Yeah, I am going to own the fic. For 4 of my kink fics, 'everybody knows they were a gift from' a certain BNF. Seriously, my work being popular when it's thought to be by someone else... again. In this case it's not a huge deal, except for having to make it clear that if the fics are put on AO3 credited to her in the notes I'll make sure they get taken down.

I'm glad you're going to own it. I'm very frustrated that people assumed they knew someone else was responsible for your previous fills.
I know that anonymity of most kinkmeme stuff means that's always a risk, and that it's mostly not a huge deal to not have those things attached to your accounts and such. BUT STILL.

Kinkmemes can be a low-stakes way to mess about with writing and see what hits, but man, sometimes they have problems.

It's very frustrating. The content is good, but... I just can't get it out there and others can. But this particular situation is due to a highly chaotic liar.

Yeah, definitely both positives and negatives to the whole kinkmeme format. I appreciate how low-stakes the anonymity can make it... but I also know there's a LOT of plagiarism and misattribution that happens, too.

Ugh, so frustrating how often objectively *better* content can't get the traction that other people manage. I know it comes down to both self-promo and luck, but man it sucks. Way WORSE when it's *your fucking content* getting circulation under a thief's name.

Extra yuck when it's deliberate. Highly chaotic liars seem to cause most of the worst things in fandom.

Yeah, it's easy to do promo when you have tons of content because you stole it. Or, like, you repost fanart to get traction on account to promo your fanfic. Social media is just too stacked in favor of bastards these days.

Right? At least it's not personal... but at the same time, I know there are some repeat assholes that really do take advantage of kinkmemes as a source of anonymous works to take credit for. *Because* the nature of kinkmemes is at least sometimes people writing stuff they don't want to put their "real" handle to, they can get away without being challenged on it.

Way too true, the less ethical someone is, the easier it is for them to meet with success. Fucking bullshit.
