Because I am staying at 3 different places on this trip, I have made the most uncool little journal with a separate page for each day saying where I am staying, how to from one hotel to the next and if I have anything booked that day. Actually, if you count the overnight train I am staying in 4 separate places.
Last time I flew I had that problem where the motel didn't think I was booked there, and motel 6 and hotels.com blamed each other and in the meantime I was in a strange city with no place to stay. Also, I've had assorted other issues that like, pre-2020 these problems would have been super rare and huge deals and now it's just like... this is how life is now.
No reason to worry, though. Tomorrow I throw myself at a streetcar to a train to a plane to a plane to a taxi to a hotel and things will work out or not.

Date: 2024-10-13 03:11 am (UTC)From:I've had that same thing happen, with a motel and the booking site both blaming each other for the rooms being oversold. They offered to get us a room somewhere else for the same price, but we'd have to pay again and just wait for a refund, plus the new place wasn't pet friendly, plus we'd still have to get there... it was not a good time.
I hope it was utterly unnecessary, but that seems like a really good plan to have it all documented and easy to find.

Date: 2024-10-21 03:38 am (UTC)From:Yeah, I never want to have that hotel problem again and the Chicago hotel wouldn't give me a confirmation number for some reason. I'll get to the Chicago post in a few days but man, worrying about that hotel was like a distant stress cloud the whole trip.
