Murderbot show so far
I like it so far! There are a few things that I wish has been just like the books, but maybe they didn't work production wise.
I am not going to have strong takes until the series is further along. I think there has been a lot of adaptional reshuffling.
Hopefully, they are being very thoughtful with how they set up concepts. Murderbot books are short and the lore isn't super deep, but there are a lot of concepts that don't map onto typical Sci Fi canons and I think some of the drama in the fandom involves that kind of shorthanding. For example: What is a SecUnit? Is it a robot? Cyborg? The answer is that it's a construct which is a very specific thing and doesn't map exactly onto the terms we typically use to discuss sci fi.
Also, we are on the outside looking in at Murderbot, instead of seeing the world through it's eyes. Murderbot doesn't understand or even want to understand parts of human experience, deletes it's own files at will and also self-censors. That's a very fundamental shift.
So for me, enjoying it,very hopeful, but am not going to have any hot takes yet... except that I really wish they'd had the part about Murderbot using it's own energy to care for the injured human against it's chest. There's a lot to that part where MB is caring for her very carefully, and on the show it's an over the shoulder carry that looked like it would aggravate the wounds. At least a bridal carry, c'mon. But eh, maybe it didn't work production wise.
