Hockey again, but I will put most of it under a cut. Photo is some of the rookies in their Pride Night fits from last night





Getting annoyed at hockey podcasts is pointless, but some were complaining recently that the Kraken are boring, have no team identity, big personalities, etc. Like, y'all, are you here for hockey or for drama? Because right now other teams have drama. I am *very* happy for my team to be boring.

But also, we are on an 11 game point streak. The hobbies of one of our goalies include volunteering at a horse rescue and wearing traditional German clothing:




And then there's one of our forwards who shows up for games looking like a vampire cowboy:



They are not as wacky or extroverted as players on some other teams. Some of them are pretty private, and that's fine. They are here for hockey. If they want to also take their tarps off or make content, awesome, but they don't have to.

Anyone calling us boring is dumb, but for that to happen right before 3 franchises basically had meltdowns was like... yo, boring is good. I like that our coach knows where his goalies are during a game. I like not putting out capslock press releases.

No offense to Mr. Kraken Goalie, but as someone who lives in Germany and in Baden-Württemberg specifically, there's just something very funny to me about a man trying to pose all model-like in Lederhosen. Like, that's the uniform of drunk dipshits on the train to me LOL.

He's from Rosenheim, Germany. So, I assume he's being a bit silly and is fully aware. There is also video on him dancing in outfits like that, and he was probably drunk. He makes those outfits look good, though!

The pride shirts are a delight.

Horse rescue and vampire cowboys are both delightful things for players to be/be engaged in.

But for real, I *like* drama-free. Considering the *kinds* of "drama" I most associate with pro athletes... look, I'm waaaaay happier if a team can just be boring instead of someone getting a DUI and someone getting arrested for assault and someone else getting filmed saying a slur.

And even if they're hoping for "fun" drama rather than "legal repercussion and apology statements" drama... nah, still nothing wrong with boring.

In this case the drama is mostly hockey organizations being completely dysfunctional. This is part of a real press release "WE ASKED THAT PEOPLE RESPECT HIS PRIVACY, BUT CLEARLY THAT REQUEST WAS NOT HEARD BY THE LOWEST FORMS OF TROLLS AND SICK PEOPLE WHO SCOUR THE INTERNET. WE ARE DISGUSTED THAT OUTSIDE FORCES ARE ATTEMPTING TO DISRUPT OUR HOCKEY CLUB. THIS STATEMENT WILL PUT AN END TO THE RIDICULOUS SPECULATION THAT HAS SPREAD ONLINE."

This was in response to rumors that, at the time, hadn't spread far or into most hockey spaces. Spoilers: This did not put an end to the speculation.

Other drama has been... too complicated to bother describing. But in one the official explanation was just not knowing where the backup goalie was. No problem here, everything is fine, the coach just didn't know where the backup goalie was, and also that goalie wasn't prepared to play that night.

Fortunately. none of it is slurs or DUIs. But still, I like that my coach can keep track of his players and none of our goalies would be caught dead unprepared to play.

Well, that is definitely "better" drama than a DUI or an assault charge.

But also.. WTFFFF.

Uh, yeah, I can see that statement NOT ACTUALLY QUELLING THE SPECULATION. I'd think that's like... public statement 101.

And... how. How do you just not know where a player is? "All our players showed up and we definitely know where they are. Because they're here." feels like a bit of a minimum.

Yeah, it's nuuuuuttss. Also, teams have three coaches and other support staff, even at away games. It's not like it's one guy out there all frazzled needing to do everything.

A few franchises are complete circuses right now, and I'm fine being here in the corner with 'boring'.

That's extra nuts! Like, it is a whole staff in charge of everything, not one person wrangling all the loose ends. It is wild that they just... misplaced a player. HOW.

Yeah, I hope it stays boring! With everyone showing up, present and accounted for!
