I saw Project Hail Mary.

I hate going to movie theaters most of the time, but it was playing at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, so I figured that would be a vibe. There were no commercials or ads beforehand! Love that! Even if there had been, I'd have been way more forgiving of all that nonsense because it's OMSI not some major corporation.

I wasn't that into it. It was shot beautifully. Practical effects were amazing. Most people who read the book seem to love it, so I'm an outlier. What I liked most about the book they didn't try to translate to the screen, and a few things were simplified. It just didn't click with me, but don't take that as a knock on the film because most people love it.

But hey, I've seen it. I can discuss it now. I didn't have to watch any ads or *shudder* ai shorts beforehand. My stupidly overpriced soda funded science education. Honestly, can't complain.

I didn't read the book beforehand, so I just got to enjoy it as a good, character-forward story with little expectations other than hoping for that.
