olivermoss | Telling one drive to fuck off on my writing laptop just nuked my desktop

I hate the future. Because I do physical back ups I've probably only lost a week of work, but still, what the fuck? I don't even let that system online more than once every 2 months.

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, should have been saved there. Everything should have pathed to my desktop. I even check file pathways sometimes.

This is so fucking insane.

I should get a thumb drive and use that as a primary drive. It seems to be the only way to control my files with how Windows OS works these days.

Fuck, I was hoping to post a fic tonight but it's gone. I really don't need this right now. And weirdly, my Noise and Silence file is missing? ... fuck, I realize why. I am missing a few files. Why the hell did my computer move all my files from my desktop? goddamnit

Edit - Just ordered a low profile thumb drive that can live in one of the USB ports. Literally cannot trust my desktop anymore. Despite disabling everything and keeping my system offline mostly, it hoovered and re-pathed my files. Every single document got deleted.
