My feet are unhappy for some reason
Nov. 24th, 2021 11:44 amI was annoyed with how few pictures I've gotten recently. I figured a trip to Aberta neighborhood would fix that. I was out from 3-11 yesterday. I maybe got three pics. We'll see, I haven't pulled the data yet. I saw murals up on Alberta, but nothing I felt like shooting. I covered more ground, got a LOT of walking in, but it was not a good photography day.
There are a lot of empty storefronts up on Alberta. I knew that every place I typically hit up there is gone. After a year, I finally took my Townsend Tea cards out of my wallet just a week ago. I figured I'd find food and a bathroom somewhere up there. One these long outings, especially when I am out late, knowing where bathrooms are is key.
The good news: I found a Garden Monster food cart. Nothing better than a light salad... covered in balsamic vinaigrette, croutons and freshly grilled steak and potatoes:

Sorry for the horrible cell phone pic, my glasses fogged during ordering and would not defog. SO I took the pic sort-of blind.
The bad news: The cart pod only had a port-a-potty. Ever tried to use a port-a-potty in complete darkness? I do not recommend. Also, WTF? This is Portland. Were is the jury-rigged attempt at lights that only kinda works? Janky DIY projects that clearly don't work or look as intended is the heart and soul of Portland food cart pods.
The spoon sticking out of my salad has a fork on the other end. I carry a United By Blue utensil set with me. I think I've been carrying this set for about three years now. I really like it. It just feels so civilized to pull out my little set whenever I am eating someplace or having a bit of tuna salad on a park bench. Not to sound like a commercial, but I since I travel a lot and live in an area that was an early adopter of the straw ban I've tried a few sets before this one and this is easy and nice to use. Every other I've tried was fussy and clunky. I just keep a cloth napkin in it to wrap dirty utensils in to keep it from messing up the case, and also because it's useful to carry a cloth napkin.
I'll pull the camera data later and see what I've got. Right now I am working on a map of Portland showing where I've thoroughly covered, lightly covered, etc.
I wish I'd gone as far as St John's. That would likely have worked out better. Eh, maybe next time.
