Nov. 20th, 2022 05:34 pm* I feel like I keep seeing people re-discover some of the problems with federated services which are, again, the shit we laugh at web3 people for getting tripped up by. Maybe it'll take off because a lot of people really want a twitter-like thing, but it's just a mess I don't want to get near.
* I need to use my hands less for a bit. My own fault, I used the touchpad on my laptop too much while doing some screencaping. I should have used the mouse.
* And maybe both previous points just mean I'm old. ugh. No actually my wrist/hand problems were 500% worse in my teens and twenties. I rarely have them now, but I still need to be careful to not make it worse. I need to rest eyes and hands more...
* Want some video essays are... I want to use the format 'very [thing]y' but I don't know how to make that work with a term ending in y.
- OOF by HBomberGuy. A 30 minute video on the history of the Roblox OOF sound effect that totally doesn't turn into a 2 hour rabbit hole.
- Defunctland is back with an hour and a half video on the Disney Channel station ID sound. I am partway through and hes got a lot of visual aesthetic stuff going on. This is... this is very much a video essay.
- Horror in Impossible Places: Liminal Spaces and The Backrooms by SuperEyepatchWolf clocks in at just under 50 minutes. Weak. It's an interesting look at the fundamental difference between the liminal and backroom aesthetics, which both use a lot of the same images, assets and source materials.
* I need to figure out how to tag better on tumblr. I am terrible at it. I've had a few images explode and some just... do nothing. I've got enough posts with traction that I do appear on the tags. Maybe I should follow trend and *checks notes* make memes about a fake Scorsese film called Goncharov? I'm sorry, what? And also do I have anything that could work for this? I don't think so...
