I watch random stuff on YouTube sometimes. I've fallen down the rabbit hole of watching way too many videos about a family run candy shop near where I used to live. I don't miss upstate New York and I rarely even think about it. But I did live there for years. Something about the phrasing, accents, personality types and bits of upstate culture is just so familiar.
When I did live there I appreciated things about the culture, cityscapes, and landscapes. Most people I knew there were confused that I found anything worthwhile in such a run down area. I wish I'd been into photography back then. I could have gotten some neat shots.
Some of the videos are pretty cool, but it's mostly that weird sense of familiarity that is drawing me in.
