I liked it at first, then not so much.
The show starts out with lots of things I like. It has an 80s setting, Benedict Wong, urban fantasy elements and hating Reagan.
It lost me when one episode in this 10 episode first season was mostly the main character tripping. Also, trained assassin kids not being able to get past a hotel room door? Just in general how they go off for days and bring drugs and/or drink and no one seems to notice? Them all repeatedly having no situational awareness? I started being less and less invested in the characters as time went on. They are just too reckless and self defeating for me to care. Some of the biggest problems and panics are just because they drank too much or did too many drugs.
By the last episode literally all I still cared about was a possible poly relationship between three of the characters. The way the arcs were being handled was really nice. It would have been an MWM grouping. The two guys were having some issues with being bi, though. Right after the big emotional moment when it seemed like they were bonded to a point where they'd likely at least try? Boom, one is shot. In the original comics he also dies at that point and it looks like he's actually dead, no comics dead.
I just ... the fuck? the second queer poly becomes a viable option in the plot one dies. Fuck this goddam show. I was going to drop the show, but that plotline hooked me. Ugh, I wish I hadn't watched it. I haven't been this pissed at a show in years.
