Boyfriend Dungeon
Gameplay is ... apparently awesome on controller. I use keyboard mouse so even basic movement is clunky with that type of fixed camera isometric design. So, the gameplay was unfun for me.
The main / canon romance is a guy you are bluntly warned to stay away from due to being violent to partners and you are also given multiple possible red flags that he is either a domestic abuser or vampire ... but if you ignore those and plow forward it's the game's canon romance and the most advertised one. Using meta I'd assume it's okay to plow forward, but you have to ignore in game stuff.
You also get a stalker. If you are nice to your stalker his arc changes and he becomes a good romance ... if you stick with him even after he scares away other potential romances like the POC girl who works at a cat cafe?
I was put off by the mentor character basically psychoanalyzing my in-game reactions and returned it, thinking this was just solidly Not For Me. I didn't like the gameplay and the mentor character being all 'dating is easy, you are just scared' annoyed me. But I've since watched some gameplay on Twitch, mostly hoping to see some of the surfer guy romance and have been very ???? about a lot of the plot and finding out that Eric the stalker is persistent and that he's a romance.
I have a stream of it open in another tab and someone in chat was just saying that all the romances made them wary and the streamer was like *shrug*.
The game looked super cute. Oh well. I am sure some will enjoy it, but oh ... so many levels of Not For Me.
Netflix's He-Man
Wow, Kevin Smith really threw some curve balls there. I liked Teela being pissed off, but rather than really confronting why the OG show's set up was kinda shitty to her it feels like she is just going to give into 'no but Adam likes you'. Also, yeah it really seemed like she was dating the black girl but now it feels like she's going to be with Adam?
But the dialogue is crappy and a lot of things don't track. It started strong but then fell apart. It's like one person wrote the first 15 minutes and then it was passed off to a staff writer to finish.
Harley Quinn
From Tumblr I'd osmosed that this is a kid's show that occasionally has truth bombs and edgy points that are amazing for a kid's show. It's not a kid's show at all. The genitalia are pixelated but like ... not a kid's show. Characters smoke actual cigarettes! Since I got HBO Max to watch The Suicide Squad I decided to watch a bit of Harley Quinn while I have the service.
I like parts of it, but probably wont finish it. Some of the characters are annoying. It's bizarre that Ivy is dating Kite Man. Not into this take on King Shark. But it does make for some great Tumblr gifs.
Taking reccs for anything on HBO Max while I have it. I only plan to have it for one month.
