I loved the ending. Sometimes, the secrets need to come out. The past needs to be left in the past. That was a wonderful, cathartic ending.
I will always have mixed feelings because they killed Dexter! Michael C Hall is so amazing as a serial killer. But I think it's a great ending. Also, yeah, the world is a different place and serial killers with impulse control issues just hits kinda different. Also, Dexter is basically a cop who murders people. He's forensics, but he still works for the police department and murders who he chooses. Again, hits different today. Time to give Dex a good ending and move on.
The only objection I have to the finale is that we really needed another Bautista scene.
Honestly, losing Dexter hits harder after seeing these BTS shows of Michael and Jack goofing around.
I re-watched some of the old show and wow, early Dexter episodes are a mood. I may post about that if I can find the right words. Still, it's a show from a specific era, one that is gone. This really was the right choice, even though I would love to see more Michael C Hall being cheerfully evil.
