I went out last night, and wanted to post the first image while it's still accurate:

Look what I actually found in the wild!



The Portland quirky public art scene is known for fairy doors and also tying toy horses to the old rings meant for tying up real horses. I rarely find fairy doors. Most of my pics are from having identified a location online and having gone after it. I almost never see a toy horse. I actually have gotten criticized or called out of touch for not repping this part of the Portland vibe, but I laughed out loud when I actually spotted this. I see skeletons and other stuff everywhere, but the 'famous' horses and doors are either rare in reality or up in the West Hill which I don't get out to much.

I took a couple of wacks at it. I loved the texture of the layers of flyers, but the compositions weren't working out.

I love the sunflowers with skulls on the Halloween countdown! Excellent! (Definitely living life right.)

And haha, I love the horse! Hooray for catching it in the wild!

The house with the fairy lights is lovely.

I do like the layered torn flyers - they look like lichen.

I am looking forward to the full Halloween rollout for this year.

The sheer depth of the flyers is cool.

That is a fantastic prop! I love it!

I'll be excited to vicariously see what they do this year.

The depth on those flyers is really neat! While I've seen them interestingly layered in places before, I've never seen THAT much "history" still in place.

The flyers quickly build into such thick layers that I've seen them lose structural integrity and just start come off like the pole is molting.

Ah yes, the spring molt of the utility poles... before the nice fresh flyer coat comes in, haha.

I bet with the humidity and rain there you get more of that "dissolving in layers" effect.

I think the horse ring horses were much more common years ago - I remember there were several around my office (and this was before the street gentrified) and I'd spot them other places, though it's been many years. lucky you, to find one!

Yeah, in the 00's I think they were a big thing. Now if people put them out they don't last long. IDK if it's the change in the homeless situation or tourists taking them as souvenirs.

There is a weird, persistent rumor that if you find Regional Memesmith's work that it's okay to take so it can 'roam' to new places and no, not at all. Why do people think this?

people think that because it's a comforting lie to tell themselves they aren't *really* stealing something cool

The way some people want to 'consume' Portland is bizarre sometimes. Our art scene isn't a scavenger hunt. From some of my reddit posts, I've learned that is some areas people just take yard art like it's some reward for finding it
