I just checked and I'm running a fever. Well, that explains while I've felt so cruddy and unable to do anything for the last few days. I have no idea what my system is fighting off because I don't have any of the specific signs of Covid or The Pox.

I had a horrid, miserable headache yesterday, and then couldn't sleep last night because I didn't do anything because of the migraine. I feel asleep for 3 hours and then had to get up for D&D... and then fell back asleep after. I am a mess right now, but I guess that is going to be my life for a few days. Maybe I should stop trying to make myself muddle through and do shit and just lay here and watch other people play Cult of the Lamb.

My brain still refuses to process that 'being worried about the pox' is a real thing that I have to deal with in 2022 unless I've been time traveling or dimension hopping.

Edit - Home test says no covid

I hope you feel better soon and it isn't the pox either.

Fingers crossed it's nothing awful, and you feel better soon!

That stinks. Hope you feel better soon!

On a related note, I've noticed more people wearing masks here again (previously I was lucky to see one while in the store). The lab where I went for a test was limiting people in the waiting room *and* required masks. I suppose one could consider that good or bad. But since this is the South and few of these rednecks believe in Covid, I guess it's a sign that cases are on the rise again.

Ugh, I hope the crud passes quickly and easily. Fevers are zero fun. Get some rest!

I... really hate that "worried about the pox" is a real thing to really deal with. What the fuck.

There's still SO much conflicting info! I've looked a few different times now, and generally-considered-credible sources are sharing very different things about it! It's primarily spread by sexual contact... but that's bad info because it can be spread by any sort of droplet transmission. It's mainly impacting men-who-have-sex-with-men... but that's because some areas were ONLY allowing MSM to be tested, so the data is skewed. Without prolonged contact, transmission rates are negligible... except you can get it by touching contaminated fabrics. WHAT IS THE TRUTH.

Right? Like... those are batshit numbers. At least a couple articles I've seen (usually separate from the ones touting those 90-some% MSM numbers) have just kind of... casually mentioned that several health departments or other agencies *only allowed MSM to get tested*, and the only non-MSM people allowed to test were those who had close proven contact with someone already found positive.
Weirdly, it turns out when 95%+ of your entire sample is MSM, so are 95%+ of your positive results! Weird! I'm sure that wouldn't be relevant info to include with your data when reporting it!

But for real - the info out about the pox is just... real bad. To what degree are asymptomatic/partially symptomatic carriers a thing? If you can be asymptomatic, how long are you a risk to others? NO ONE HAS ANY FUCKING INFO.

I hope that whatever crud you got from the rando on the street was just a nasty flu-type bug that has run its course.

Right? The failure to have ANY reliable information seems so extraordinarily dangerous, yet... there's nothing you can do about it. It all sucks.
