* I have a horribly rough drawing of the logo I want for my photography. It may not work great as a logo, but I am going with it and will make a few variations on it. It will take me a while, but I can do it eventually. This is a post of mine on Artstation showing both the first and final drafts of a GW2 comic I made. Took a while, but I know the steps to get from A to B.

... oh, that's right in addition to writing this year I did also take on some art projects for, for me at least, are pretty tricky.

* The long-teased Stranger Things spin off was either announced or scooped. I don't think the announcement was supposed to go out just before Christmas. Anyway, it's been announced to almost no reaction because the spin off is going to be an anime. I don't think of animated versions as part of main continuity. 80s Japan is a cool setting and I love the Duffers, but... yeah I'd need to hear more about who is actually writing this before I get even a flicker of interest. To me this isn't much different from announcing a book or a comic series.

I remember that comic, but don't think I'd ever seen the first version. Nice job!

I had missed the Stranger Things announcement (whether on purpose or leaked). That's... a potentially cool setting and could do neat things with the premise. But that does feel very not-different from the things like the books existing, which have never been hyped (as far as I've seen) as "OMG AMAZING, VITAL EXPANSION OF THE MAIN CANON". Fun to get more exploration of the world and lore, but yeah, also doesn't feel like something in the actual main continuity.

Yeah, considering that people are so hungry for Stranger Things news that total BS trends regularly it's amazing how this has failed to generate any hype. Still, better to see it expanded this way than anything else, because we can ignore it easily. Hopefully anything live action will be long in development.

Yeah, it's surprising to me that I haven't seen ANY hype for it at all!

And yes - I'm not above deciding that if it turns out that the spinoff is surprisingly great, I will incorporate what I like best into my interpretation of the series, but if it sucks or is boring or just doesn't add anything of interest, I can discard it completely.

Even if I like it, I'll have trouble seeing it as official canon. That Finn Wolfhard guessed the spin off was a news story that trended repeatedly, but the actual news? Yeah, just a massive lack of reaction.

Yeah... it's more the kind of thing where if I like it, I'd still only wind up taking things fairly piecemeal to incorporate into my perception of the property. (Though let's be real... it's unlikely I'll even wind up watching it, considering my track record lol.)

But the utter lack of any sort of reaction - positive or negative - seems surprising to me, considering what a passionate fandom it is.

Yeah, this is even a bigger disconnect than SPN/Winchesters. At least that's the same medium, tho

That's true! I hadn't thought about that, but it is sort of a similar (but worse) disconnect... for two such passionate fanbases, it's almost strange to see how little they've managed to capitalize on that.
