* I've made the executive decision to count both writing projects towards my Nano goals because that puts my progress perfectly in line. Since I have flopped hard at Nano in the past, it just feels good to be sort-of doing it? It's just night and day where I am with my writing compared to before and doing this really drives that home for me. Also, part of why I initially considered it this year is that the pace seemed do-able. So, I wasn't wrong?

I also have a few thousand more words in side documents and did more background / set up on Mist. Things are progressing nicely even if I a bit out of sync with Nano.

* I am never watching GBBO after the previous season's BS and the twee responses of some of the people involved. However, I want an in on the drama. I've seen reactions to the lasted episode and I know things happened. Kinda cool that Noel Fielding is back. I wonder if they did a lot to snag him again after last season being such a trainwreck.

This is a sound idea because it's literally how many words you're writing.

That way of counting makes perfect sense to me. Best of luck with it!

I am fully in favor of that decision! I think counting any words that move you forward is a perfectly valid way of doing it. (Obviously, I am not unbiased, since that's what I'm doing too. :P )

I do at least appreciate that GBBO ultimately nixed any future "ethnic" weeks, even though the initial response was weak crap. I like the new host more than I liked the other guy. Matt? Yeah, like the new lady much better, and she and Noel play off each other pretty well. HOWEVER, I think I also missed out on several bits of drama beyond the utter cringe of the mexican week thing.

Oh yeah, that's extremely tone deaf. There's an awful lot of history there that you really can't ignore, and flippantly brushing it off as "drama" is... yeah, no.

Those s'mores were a travesty, ha, and that *doesn't* come with centuries of colonialism and cultural baggage.

I couldn't remember his last name! But yeah, Matt Lucas just never really worked for me. I didn't care for his brand of humor, and it often felt like it fell more toward "mean-spirited" than "good-natured."

No kidding! That is QUITE the history of imperialism to be trying to brush off as ~just drama~. I am frankly shocked they didn't use consultants, too. That seems like such a basic necessity.

Yeah... the self-deprecation was mean in its way, too. Being able and willing to laugh at yourself or have yourself sometimes be the butt of the joke is fine, but it can get really uncomfortable at a certain point. Maybe that's his schtick or something - I'm not familiar with him otherwise - but it just tonally felt really wrong for the show.
