And it sounds like another should start airing soon called Couple Or Not?

LOL I was wondering when talk of the "first live action omegaverse show" would appear on Dreamwidth.

I doubt the Chinese one will air any time soon, since all BL c-dramas are in censorship limbo.

Oh is the other one Chinese? I am very out of the loop on Asian dramas. Since I saw recent posts about a new trailer, I assumed it was coming soon but, yeah, I'd be surprised.

I'm going to follow the show if I can. The pilot was easy to find, but I don't typically follow asian dramas so I don't know the best sites for it.

It's Thai, so it's probably legally on YouTube (cut version) and on iQiyi (uncut version, but not always available from every country).

I have heard of both of these upcoming shows, but putting it that way does sound more like the fandom version of Sentinel/Guide. Fascinating, lol.

I saw an interview snippet on tumblr and if the translation is correct, yeah, this feels way more Sentinel/Guide so far. But, the novel is not available in English so who knows where this might all go?

I have to say that I'm a bit amused/intrigued by the whole new world this could be opening up, haha.

Someone's alleged summary of the second one - not the race car driver one - sounded more typical omegaverse vs. the much more Sentinel/Guide sounding info about Pit Babe. Buuuuut big grain of salt on whether that info was correct or not.

Just the fact that there are arguably two relatively mainstream omegaverse (to whatever extent) series being produced right now is a bit wild.

I don't think it's intentionally Sentinel AU, but man someone needs to do a study on the evolution of dominant fandom AUs over time. Sentinel -> BDSMworld -> Omegaverse

I do doubt it's deliberately trying to be a Sentinel AU, but I can definitely see the apparent similarities. There's certainly been a lot of (sometimes probably unconscious) cross-pollination between all of those broader types of AU. It'd be really interesting to see an actual study on that evolution! Just *how* these particular AU types spread, how they evolve within their niche, how new writers who are unfamiliar with whatever started the AU bring their own ideas to it that then gain prominence... I mean, it's pretty clear how all of the above have a very iddy appeal, and how various people will find different aspects most appealing. I genuinely do find it really interesting, as weird as all of it is to explain to someone unfamiliar with it, lol.
