* Ah, the fun of weathering a storm in Portland. I get to play my favorite game, did my lights flicker or did I see the flash of a substation blowing? I am currently on the 'still has power' side of a major outage from what I've seen online.

* Yes, I would like more clout and recognition as a photographer. No I am not joining people walking up icy slopes to show how wind is downing trees on Mt Tabor for internet points. "Man, look how dangerous this is!" Yes, which is why you should not be there! The trees will still be downed for days.

congrats on not losing power! mine went out for ~5 hours, so I spent the afternoon in bed listening to the wind blow and stuff hit the windows

I do not understand folks heading out into serious weather to try to score cool pictures (unless it's your job, maybe) - and today's conditions were a lot worse than most Oregon winter storms, just temp-wise

At least I haven't lost it yet! Glad you got yours back.

I've walked on ice for photos, but not during a storm when emergency services are begging people to stay in. I established my risk limits for photography long ago. Some of the risks I take hit people as spicy, but yeah now is just not the time.
