Can the 'The Shining Hotel Engulfed in Flames' headlines calm down? Timberline Lodge just has minor water damage from putting out an isolated attic fire caused by the chimney that was quickly controlled.

Once it's repaired I should head back up, it's been a minute. (and my current camera wouldn't have this egregious purple fringing issue also WHAT iso did I shoot this at?)





I like telling tourists, especially international ones, that it's a WPA project so yeah, walk on in, it's cool. It's sort-of public land. There is even a teeny ranger station on the ground floor that does tours.

Also, Timblerline what the exterior of the hotel, the interior was sets. This is what the actual inside of it looks like. Nice bar, too.

I briefly head about the fire as I was racing out the door, but it's good to hear that damage is minimal. I've not been to Timberline in years, but it's such a beautiful and iconic place, with a neat history.

Some of the info on social media this morning was being overly dramatic, would have been a jump scare if I didn't know better. Yeah, it's a great place. Hopefully the repairs wont be too complicated despite the location.

It's a pain to get to, but it's lovely to be there. I went twice just to hang out and read/write in the lobby. As long as you don't try to sleep in the lobby or bring in outside food it's chill, but I always grab a drink at the bar when I go.

They definitely confused a few people here. I told a coworker that I'd been at the Stanley, and he responded with "Wait, wasn't that on fire yesterday??"
That was before I'd heard about Timberline, so I just had a semi-baffled... "Not while I was there..?"

That's funny. Yeah, the headlines were nuts. I didn't even think about the Colorado one.
