Today got derailed, literally I guess. The light rail wasn't running due to mechanical problems and was replaced by a shuttle bus. The busses are way smaller and have less seating. I cannot stand on a bus. I have the legal right to claim one of the priority seats for disabled people, but no way am I going to do that on a crowded bus full of cranky commuters who are going to get home late. I'd get called a Karen at best. I never ask for the seating for me, it does not get well when people like me try.
So I just walked home. I could have called a Lyft, but was like fukkit.
After I got home I walked to 50 Licks, which I intend to do a lot this summer. They are my favorite vegan ice cream place and their flagship store burned down a few weeks ago. They do have small satellite locations and a nearby business immediately offered part of their parking lot for their food truck. They used to just be a food cart, not even one with a set location. It did event catering. It was just a part time thing someone was running out of their home. I'm sure they'll be fine, but it's sad to see something someone built out of a side hustle and into a large corner store on Burnside become toast. I first had some when they were at a nerd tag sale and swap meet a million years ago. It was one of those things were people pay five bucks for a table and it's a big group tag sale, in this case specifically for nerdy stuff. Vegan ice cream was rare and usually not great back then, so I still remember that scoop of lemon saffron.
