I spent the hot summer evening as one does, watching Twilight in an alley projected against a bar





(I've still never read the books and only watched one of the films very recently. But, it sounded hilarious. They've got a Twilight drag event next. I'm debating going. The organizers and attendees were wonderful, but doing too many of these events as someone who isn't a fan feels odd. I got asked what 'team' I am and was confused for a moment.)

I have zero interest in the Twilight franchise but I'd watch it in a venue like that!

Team Jacob!! And I've only seen one movie as well. Ahaha.

I'm probably Team Jacob because I don't see the appeal of Edward at all

That seems like a fun event, despite the subject matter, haha.

As far as I had to pick a team, I was all for Team Alice, but never got into the series, no matter how often people told me that ~I'd just loooooove it~. (But of the main two, Jacob was way better, if a poly ending is off the table.)

Yeah, it was really cool. The people there were great and I'd love to do more events like that, but it would be awkward fast.

I feel like sometimes it works out to hang with events and groups where you appreciate their general vibe/attitude/ethos, even when you don't have the same focus or interest. But sometimes yeah, it just gets awkward. Which is a shame!

It sucks when it's like... the vibes are mismatched with the people who theoretically like the same things I do, but I don't share the same interests with the people I do vibe with. A specific tragedy.

I wish my tastes were less niche. And like, I don't need stuff to cater to my exact everything, but I will never be into Twilight.

It would be nice to be into The Big Thing, sometimes.

Though yeah... can't say it's ever going to be Twilight for me either, haha.

One reason I love being a Stranger Things fan is that it's nice not being in a tiny corner and having to like explain this weird niche I'm in. I don't like these weird, cramped corners. They can be cozy, for short periods of time, but would like more big fandoms.

Yes! Being into the popular, well-known thing for once is pretty great!

It is a fine line between "cozy" and "cramped." So much of what I like ends up being those little lesser-known (or at least lesser-fanned) things, and I'm just not energetic enough to be a fandom of one!
