Me: Okay, time to stop being hype about Guild Wars 2. No playtime outside of guild stuff, spend less times in streams, etc

Guild Wars 2: So our next expansion is coming, and also Alliances, Steam release, Old LA is coming back, new content roadmap for the next three months and more!

Me: Well, shit...

Though, in seriousness, on most days only 1 hour of gametime or less, limited stream time, etc. I traditionally pretend that most of the in-game festivals don't exist. They are awesome, but they are designed to be limited time farms. The momentum they have is fun, but nah. I do some Halloween festival, but Wintersday, Dragon Bash, Four Winds, Queen's Jubilee and SAB... I pretty much ignore them.

The thing about GW2 going to Steam is that it will likely explode the game's population. The trade off is that Steam will take a chonk of all transactions from those players forever, which is why companies like ANet don't exactly jump at the opportunity. The game has been lively. The player base has known that all sectors of the game have had lots of activity, but they released that the amount of active players doubled in the past three years and also the new expansion has already outsold the last. If the Steam launch goes well, that could double the active player number again.

MMOs don't last forever, but it's good to know that one I play is doing really good and maintenance mode is far off.
