May. 24th, 2022 09:04 pm* Seth Green's new show can't go forward because he based it on his Bored Ape... and someone stole his Bored Ape. Cue thousands of people on twitter thinking that this was illegal and law should be involved.
There are a few things tolaugh at unpack here. The blockchain and BAYC's smart contracts have no legal standing. The show is being halted, possibly scrapped, to prop up the fiction of NFT ownership. Dan Olsen has a good thread with pictures here showing that many BAYCs are nearly indistinguishable and idea of them having separate copyrights makes no sense, and also a link to the show's trailer which is... a mess.
