I do this every year. I am not big on the holidays, they tend to be not great for me. I like making this post to revisit what holiday music I do like and see if there are any new tunes to my liking.
You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch - It's a recent cover by Lindsey Sterling. It's a great arrangement and I love the visual style of the video.
Silver Bells - I love this song. I used to love playing it on the flute. I cannot find an arrangement of it that I like on YT. I've had this problem a few years running. Poking around I did find this version by The Supremes.
Marshmellow World covered by Steam Powered Giraffe - This was released shortly after they changed the band's third vocalist from Hatchworth to Zero, and was out first listen to the new member and how his voice would blend with the band. Hatchy is my fave, but Zero is amazing and his vocals are amazing. This was a great intro for the new member.
Carol of the Bells by Trans-Siberian Symphony Orchestra - It's badass.
White Wine In The Sun - The writer is Australian, hence the name sounding more summery than wintery. It's a beautiful song. It's one of the few things that make me reliably tear up. It is also hands down my favorite holiday tune.
Fairytale of New York - I am an American. Apparently, in other countries this is overplayed to the point of madness. I'd heard this song a few times, but didn't know the title. I only really tracked it down a few years ago. It's sad, broken and Irish. I listen to it at least once every year.
