I have finally seen Venom.

The trailer put me off this film, but I am hardly alone in that. The fan reception made me take a look and I guess it's not for me. It's got the whole 'uniquely compatible and therefor stuck with each other' trope that fandom loves. I guess that explains the hype. There has to be a name for this trope, but I don't know it. I just skimmed the TV Tropes page for Venom and got nada.

I am rewatching Person of Interest. I went through my Tumblr to save stuff due to the current shenanigans, and remembered how much I loved the show. I love that it's a closed canon with a planned ending. Most genre shows get cancelled early or become hot messes as the storylines branch and drift too much to ever be resolved. This show and Orphan Black are both amazing closed canons.

One of the great things about Person of Interest is that, like Leverage, you can judge it by it's pilot. If you aren't into it by episode 2, don't stick with it. It's not one of those tedious 'after the first hundred episodes it hits it's stride!' shows.

Also, as much as I love Marvel it's nice to diversify my media intake a bit. PoI is a highly deconstructed take on super heroes, but at least it's a bit different from just reading/watching more Marvel.
