I see a lot being made about ye olden dayes of LJ and how odd it was when people used to obsess over 100x100 icons pixel by pixel. Such a small format! But now a lot of fandom is on Discord and it's all about those precious emoji slots of 50x50 pixels. People fuss over a server's allotted slots just as much as people used to fuss about icon slots. I am thinking of making a few and it's amusing to me how, again, the future means smaller formats not larger. Also, sometimes things don't change as much as you thing they do.
I am doing a full rewatch of Person of Interest. I love a good closed canon. I forgot how fast the show gets things moving. By episode 2 it's got it's tone so nailed that anyone watching can judge whether they will like it or by that point. By episode 3 it's set up plotlines that will play out at an even pace over years.
One thing I love about both PoI and Leverage, you don't need to wait for the show to hit it's stride. It's solid right out of the gate. No 'just get through the first season' type stuff.
I've been watching some Jeeves and Wooster on youtube. In some ways the show holds up very well. The cast changes and the quality of the camera equipment is unfortunate. But the cast is amazing, even those who change out. The access to locations is fantastic and they likely used a lot of era items for props because they were a lot closer to the 30s then. I suspect some of the clothing was vintage. 60 year old dress is very usable for a show. Today, those dresses would be 90 years old. From the feel, the consistency and how well it was adapted, someone was in charge knew what they were doing.
I've been watching another older show and I have many things to say. I'll have to wait a few days to post about that.

Date: 2019-01-18 07:53 pm (UTC)From:But, by the end of the first episode I was completely and utterly hooked. By the end of the second episode I'd acquired my first new OTP in years and that doesn't happen very often. But the heart wants what it wants and it was Finch/Reese.
Sorry, ramble... but I totally get why you're enjoying it all over again. :D
