I got Hulu to see their Fyre Festival doc. I don't know anything about most of these shows on the other side of the streaming divide. But I am not going to have Hulu for long. Not only am I paying and still seeing commercials, but it's constantly giving me pop ups asking for more browser permissions and giving me long, blank screens because it can't load it's ads. I've whitelisted it on my browser extensions, but it still can't load it's ads half the time because it wants things from my browser it can't get. I assume it's trying to run scripts. I am sure Netflix also datamines, but at least it's low key about it.

So, I am only paying for one month and then I am out. What should I watch while I have access? I am currently watching Marvel's Runaways. I watch Cloak and Dagger on Amazon. The homepage keeps showing me Future Man, The Gifted, The Commuter and The Osiris Child. Any opinions on those?

I am likely not going to watch The Orville or Handmaid's Tale.

Stargate, X-Files, Brooklyn 99, Steven Universe, Community, Librarians are all ones i enjoy that aren't on Netflix. I don't watch much on hulu for the same reasons you state (i only have it as part of a spotify bundle), except that now I'm apparently doing a stargate rewatch....

They do have Stargate! I'm not too surprised that the stargate-only service hasn't lasted. There's niche and then there's niche.

And ooh, they also have Boston Legal, which I LOVE, so if you ever enjoy quirky/funny/satirical legal dramas, like the idea of William Shatner and James Spader being awesome at each other, and don't mind flashbacks to the Bush era, I heartily recommend that one! Start with season 2 if S1 doesn't grab you immediately.

There is a Swedish crime series whose name escapes me, but that was only on Hulu.

Sorry you had so much trouble with the service.

I really enjoyed Castle Rock, which I think is only on Hulu. There's one self-contained season of ten episodes (there's going to be another season, but from what I've read it's a totally different story that just takes place in the same town), so you could get through it pretty quickly. It helps to be a Stephen King fan, obviously, and to be okay with horror.

Of the ones you listed, I've only seen Gifted, and it's very hit or miss with me. Sometimes I'm really into the story lines, sometimes the episodes bore me to death. It's one of those shows I wait until there's a few episodes queued up, and then I binge watch them all while I'm also doing something else, like cleaning or folding laundry. So if I get bored I can just focus on doing something else while the show goes on in the background.

Is it possible for you to watch Hulu through its app instead of your web browser? In my experience it performs a lot better. I stopped having the issue of popups and non-loading ads once I switched to the app (actually, I started paying for their more expensive tier so I don't get ads at all anymore, but that's a recent thing).
