In Chicago they are setting railway tracks on fire to get them warm enough to be used. That would be amazing to see, but I am also glad to not be in the polar vortex. When I did the Empire Builder line a while back we had to go at a very slow speed to keep from snapping the track due to extreme cold. The train conductor and dining car staff made cannibalism jokes.

I loved that trip. I wish I was on a cozy train through the snow right now.
