I was interested in seeing it because Billy Porter is amazing. The descriptions of the show I read made it sound like modern day rival fashion companies when it's really about the late 80s and early 90s POC gay, trans and drag scene in NYC. It's amazingly well written and acted. Billy Porter is amazing.

The setting is a brutal one, but it's handled very well as far as I can tell. The show is unflinching without being maudlin or anything like that. The show's whole approach is different and it doesn't feel like it's going for the easy emotional punches.

S1 is on Netflix and I watched S2 via an Amazon season pass. Given the timeline I am curious to see if S3 deals with the ride of Rupaul and the impact of he had on the culture. The show kind of feels like a long form response to Ru's rejection of trans people as part of the scene. I know Ru has walked that back somewhat and I haven't been following him closely. But the show having connections between different parts of queer culture is one of the things I love about it.
