The plot was a hot mess. It's not even worth analyzing. I mean, where to start? The last episode where they are all made of rubber and the thousands of agents all roll critical fails when shooting at them? The triplets never being a real threat? That Lila mastered her powers with no way to train them, when Vanya not being trained is an important plot point?
Allison starting out 1963 with no voice, literally, was great thematically.
I like 5. Characters who look young but are actually really old work for me. They are great at capturing that 'I know what I am talking about, stop dismissing me' feeling.
I love Klaus.
I love that his family isn't weirdly moralistic towards him about drugs and alcohol. They are sad, but don't suddenly turn off feelings for him when he drinks. He also isn't 100% useless when he drinks. He can still help cover up a murder. A lot of plotlines and backstories for characters with addiction annoy me or bore me. He's written and acted amazingly.
The actor pulls off emotional scenes very well. I usually cringe at 'I love this person, but they don't know me' type scenes, but they actually worked here. He also sells the relief of escapism.
I find him weirdly relatable. There is likely a lot to unpack there, but I am going to leave it packed.
