Sunshine Challenge Prompt 6

Amphitrite is the goddess of the Sea. So, oceans and sea. I have more pictures of high altitude lakes than oceans. I am going to limit myself to oceans, seas and sounds. No lakes. I mean, not that it would be always possible to be tell, but I must stay within the challenge. A few of these are old pictures. Like, scans of old paper photos I had to dig pretty deep to have variety here.

And yeah, on the Great Lakes you'd be hard pressed to tell they weren't the ocean if someone just plopped you down without context.

The Great Lakes are huge. I was supposed to be out there a while back, but *gestures at world*. Maybe next year it'll work out.

The heron shot was lucky. It's such a perfect silhouette it almost looks unreal.

I grew up next to the Atlantic Ocean, but I am rarely around oceans anymore. They really are amazing.

Something about the second image with the retreating tide and the lone rivulet is so haunting. I also really love the sunset over the yachts.

I love the heron with the open beak and all the masts!

And the shipwreck.

The light on that sunset (sunrise?) image with the wave pattern in the sand is fantastic.

Thank you! That wave pattern in the sand pic is old. I scanned in the photograph. The people I was with thought I was nuts for taking it.

Wow, these are so cool. ♥ I especially like the second (the vastness is perfectly caught) and last one - the latter having Lovecraftian vibes, desolate, dreamy and gut-churning. I love it! :)

A lovely lot again! Though your words did get me thinking about lakes that are so big, they have beaches like oceans. The second photo even reminds me directly of one. It was so weird to be there and feel like I was at the ocean, when I could see the other side of the loch (I'm scottish, we have lochs).

Lakes can be massive. We have some amazing lakes here in Oregon and I hope to see the Great Lakes next year if I can.

I actually went to the great lakes when I was, like, 12! It was quite the experience..
