* One of the content creators for the game I play is a transwoman stuck in a country that isn't great for trans people. She is building a career doing freelance editing and other online work so she doesn't need to deal with being in an office and having to present/act male all day. Her computer was having problems and it's spendy to get computer parts where she is.
So, her and another creator she collabs with a lot set up a month long GFM with lots of transparency and cost break downs to get her a new system that would come in at about $2k. It would be a lot less if it wasn't for shipping and other problems getting the parts where she is. Anyway, the goal was hit in hours. When the funds raised went over $5k they stopped accepting more money. I follow both creators on multiple platforms. I didn't even hear about this until after they turned off the donations! I wasn't able to take part!
So, anyway, soon Noxxi will be back to having the tools she needs to live and work on her own terms. The world is a dark place, but my community smashed goals to keep her safe. The GFM didn't even list most of these details about her. No emotional appeals. It was just 'if you know who she is and want to help out'. Presumably, a lot of the people who donated did know at least part of the situation.
* There are more than 1986 Steve/Eddie fics now, but I missed screencapping it hitting that number twice! (I logged out and that subtracted the archive-only fics and so I could try again). And now it's well past 2k.
* Trying to see if there are ways to self-trouble-shoot my poor camera. But in the meantime I do have my PEN.
