* If I had a nickel for each of my blorbos known for wearing a guitar pick necklace I'd have two nickels, which is not a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice.

Though, whether Eliot Spencer actually wears that necklace of it's just CK not taking it off and it winds up appearing in shots is an open question. I think it's only supposed to be visible in one outfit.

* Yes, I've embraced fandom lingo like blorbo and brain rot. They are good terms.

* If I had a nickel for every time I've forgotten that Beth Reisgraf is in Stranger Things I'd have a lot.

* That's it, still a bit out of is from not being able to really sleep/rest over a 3 day weekend because of loud booms. I was distracted by Stranger Things so I sort of forgot that my Independence Day weekends tend to be like that I should just plan for it.

* I have a chunk done of my next chapter of Still Here. Once that's done I'll have a substantial enough bit of the bit fic that I might polish off Sharkskin.

* I've had this plan of doing a bunch of fic and then working on my original stuff once I'm practiced. I don't really feel the need for that suddenly. I can do beat sheets and even write drafts even though I am not skilled enough yet to get them where I want. I think I'll feel a lot better if have them where I can iterate on them in a way that makes sense, rather than just creating pages of spaghetti I'll just delete and not use. Now that I've written a long project, how to do so without tripping over my own brain makes more sense to me

I'm going to have to catch up on your Stranger Things posts now that I've caught up.

Sometimes weird fandom terms just encapsulate a very specific thing that there's no good previous vocabulary for. Blorbo is definitely one of them.

My brain also wants to compare Joseph Quinn actually learning the guitar solo so it's him in nearly every scene and doing correct fingering so they could do a lot more with the shots to CK doing his own stunts. A bit of a reach, but Joseph went hard on that role. Metalheads actually ID'd the song from the trailer from Joseph's hand movements.

I don't think it's that much of a reach. It's two actors doing what they can to embody important aspects of their characters, by actually DOING the things their characters value.
I didn't realize that about the hand movements leading to ID of the song ahead of time - that's rad!

It's interesting from a composition/flow standpoint. The whole super-tight-focus on hands always throws me out of shows and movies. In a lot of shows and movies, even now, it's like the fight or action scenes interrupt the show.

I don't mind when the focus is on certain things, and interrupting the flow with a purpose to drawing attention makes sense sometimes...

But yeah, sometimes instead of just emphasis it seems more jarring than that, and can interrupt the flow of the whole thing. In a lot of movies (which is where I notice it even more than in most shows) it seems like fight scenes are often overproduced and clearly not really designed to flow with the work as a whole. It's like the whole film has to be put on pause for a few minutes while everyone has a dramatic action sequence, and then we can get back to the plot.

Yeah, and it's remarkable how Leverage can have character moments or humor because the flow is so good. And you don't need the super tight shots all the time.

Some big productions can have the actors in the fight scenes now due to all the effects, but they are also really talking to tennis balls and not real people. For some actors, it still works and for some they really need scene partners.

Right? Shows with really good flow and clear cinematography don't need to draw your eye with tight shot after tight shot, like they need to tell you specifically what to pay attention to every second.

And yeah. The trend of utilizing CG for so much has had mixed results, for sure. Sometimes it's great... sometimes it's used instead of having two actors actually in the same place at the same time, and it shows.
