* I really need to finish watching Will so I can post opinions on it. It's not good, but it does even out as the season goes on. I can see why people were frustrated that it was cancelled. It did have potential.

I am watching it because Jamie Campbell Bower is in it... and I don't watch to touch most of his back catalogue with a ten foot pole. Amusingly, he's claimed in some interviews to have never done TV or Movie acting before Stranger Things, which has left interviews looking confused and double checking notes. To be fair I don't think it's all shade at some of his past roles, it's more that a lot of his past work is entangled with a certain actor and he's trying to dodge drama.

Some of his long term fans have been trying to act like they are the 'real' fans unlike as newbs who 'didn't know him then' and I'm like... I am very okay with starting here, thanks!

* I also need to finish the two books I am in the middle of but time is a pain and I have all this writing and photographying to do.

* It's almost 100 degrees out and *this* should be the end of the summer heat... for real reals this time. The last dozen where all fake outs, but this is it... right?

* I've barely been drawing in ages. How do I ... undo that so I am in good practice to draw my D&D character and also draw some Halloween stuff?

People always get so weird about being "a Real Fan from Before", but... sometimes certain properties are garbage, even if there was a talented person involved.

I have been having a miserable time trying to read, and have been stalled out in the middle of a book for quite a while. Two books I've been excited to read came out today, dammit. I have too much of a list! Time is stupid!

Fingers crossed the heat is done with you soon. That's fucking miserable. Apparently we're supposed to be getting higher-than-normal temps through the next couple months, which I'm happy about if it means we get a nice long fall. (Not one early blizzard that kills all the leaves.) But still... I'd prefer that be 80 degrees, not 100!

Time is still stupid! Writing, drawing, photography... to say nothing of the reading and watching things and gaming... you have SO MANY different things! I sympathize, even with fewer things.

Will is garbage... but his other roles involved Johnny Depp, Cassie Claire and JK Rowling so... Yeah, I'm good, thanks. He also had a role in Twilight, which just doesn't interest me. Also, during most of the Twilight, Shadow Hunters, Rowling era of his work he had a drug addiction problem and in most of the interviews from that era I am pretty sure he's high. He's currently 7 and a half years clean. He hasn't said from what, but I have a strong suspicion it was heroine or something close to it. After he got clean being in Will was one of his few acting jobs, he mostly wrote songs for Counterfeit about addiction, suicide and asking for help but being ignored that are probably about that earlier era of his career.

Stranger Things was a huge comeback/opportunity for him. He was pretty stunned to get the call. Whoever does casting for that show deserves all the awards because not only are their picks amazing but they didn't do open calls for a lot of the roles. They pretty much handpicked both Jamie and Joe Quinn and didn't even put them through the typical rounds of auditions/interviews. Both were confused to be cast so fast.

Gatekeeping is always dumb, but in this case it's... I can see it being weird to suddenly have new fans barreling in and coming across a lot of stuff for the first time. But people being smug or refusing to help the newbs is just baffling to me. Some are very weird.

Sorry for the long reply, but in addition to photography, writing, etc I also have severe Joe and Jamie brain rot going on. I really want to have an update or to up for the upcoming long weekend, but with the heat I might take it easy. My focus is just less good when it's hot.

Yeah, I don't blame you for giving most of his previous roles a miss.

I'm really glad that he's recovering from what sounds like a really serious and difficult addiction. And I'm really glad that he got such a prominent and well-received role as an opportunity to have that sort of comeback!
I had heard they had chosen actors they wanted for the roles rather than open casting, and they made SUCH good choices! I can't imagine anyone else in either role, honestly.

I understand why fans of a particular actor/singer/property/etc. get kinda weird about it when there's a new influx of people suddenly interested in the same thing. And I understand that sort of semi-smug "oh sure, NOW you're interested in xyz..." feeling. But getting super gatekeep-y and rude about it is always a bad look.

Ugh, the heat up there is brutal. I do not blame you in the slightest if you need to take it easy. Triple-digit degrees (plus humidity!) is too damn hot to think good.

Yeah, and Venca is an intense role. 3 very separate personas. 7-8 hours to get into make up as Venca and then a full day of filming. Also he's going to be a major character over a few years of filming. That's a big commitment. And yeah, Stranger Things is an awesome property and he's a geek. So, yeah, amazing for him.

Yeah, some people are being weird about it. I went to the Will TNT tag now that I am done and people were literally talking about wanting to keep him 'just for us girlies' and like... stop...

A SUPER intense role! I know I saw something about how intensive the makeup process was, which is a WHOLE lot. It's an amazing opportunity and an amazing role for him, so I'm so glad he's doing it.

Yuck. That's such a weird thing to say, lmao. Like, I'm very "cringe is dead" yet also... yeek. Please don't.

Yeah, it's cool that they are doing practical effects for the show, mostly.
