My brain is caught up in organizing things: data, wips, my planners, etc.
One change I am making to my planner this year is more space to write down longer projects that I've gotten done. I tracked writing, but I clean forgot that I had completed a few 4 panel comics and some other stuff this year. Now I have space to give myself a better year-overview.
Another is to try to plan ahead some content, mostly for my photo-a-day blog. Last June I posted all of my Portland Pride images... and now I have nothing for next June. I've got time, but I am going to want a few new images in my Portland Pride folder before June begins. No rush, but it would be good to have some ready to go. Also, we were well into the cold snap before I thought to post this as a joke. I am trying to think ahead about days where I might want planned content. There is a Friday the 13th in Jan, I may make a post about the missing red window of Portland Mausoleum instead of my usual post, or make some other Friday the 13th post. I just need stuff ready to go, and not think 'hey that would have been neat' halfway through that Friday.
I mucked out my WIPs folder of a lot of writing I did just as practice or wips where I didn't write down enough of my idea/vibe to come back to it. I am organizing some of my upcoming projects and polishing some WIPs that I can't do right now, but want there as a thing I could come back to.
* Men in locker rooms tend to police each other's behaviors minutely and Steve's been in varsity sports likely since middle school. That is a lot of time dealing with that. Eddie had probably rambled about how damaging all that aggression and policing is, how repressive it is... and now he's got a boyfriend with that exact type of emotional scarring. I'd like to write about this, I have some ideas and some free writing on it... but it's not a current project. However, all my notes and stuff are organized into a single Scriv file and not scattered.
* Also I am eternally sad that Eddie is so clearly werewolf coded and fandom looked at him and went 'vampire'. I've had to explain multiple times who Eddie Munster (of The Munsters) is and that he was a werewolf. I have some writing for a werewolf fic that has lots of great things, but can't be a right-now project. All the notes and stuff are organized and if I can come up with an actual arc I can put it there too and maybe make it a fic.
Those and others are all in states where I can come back to them and not wonder what the hell I was thinking.
And now brain tired.
I have some other organizing in progress, but that is for another post.

Date: 2022-12-31 04:41 am (UTC)From:Planning ahead, especially when you've got something that's as steady as the photo-a-day blog, can help a LOT I would imagine. Particularly for holidays or significant dates (like Friday the 13th!), knowing in advance what to post on the date or for the stretch of days leading up, etc. sounds like a very good idea.
And I really like both of those fic ideas! I certainly don't MIND the vampire-Eddie stuff, but come on! The werewolf stuff is RIGHT THERE!

Yes, and Eddie could be stuck as a wolf and finds Steve, and Steve is falling apart but caring for the 'lost dog' helps him become borderline stable again. The world needs more werewolf fic and we need Woof!Eddie
