This bar / cafe / used bookstore has a lot of cute little book filled nooks you can sit and have tea and write in, but all where full when I arrived so I was at the bar. I will go back and someday snag a booth or one of the small tables behind these stacks:

It was good to finally go there and I do plan to go and do writing there. I was also in the are photowalking because a fairly detailed yarn bombing is allegedly on Freemont, but of course it wasn't actually. I figured there was about a 10% chance the art I wanted to shoot was actually at the corner people said, but I still got a good walk in.
Pictures of things besides me having beers in places... hopefully soon. I've got BwPCon this weekend and will likely work on my photos after that.
And HEY, guess who has an old version of Lightroom with no CC so I don't need to accept a pop up giving Adobe rights to do 'content review' of my photos? Everyone who has given me shade for clinging to my old copy on this dying tablet, who's laughing now? Hopefully my tablet doesn't give up the ghost this week just to spite me. If it does, I will need to switch programs. I was willing to use current, subscription based LR if my tablet died... I was, I am no longer.

Date: 2024-06-13 04:52 am (UTC)From:Yeah, the Adobe shit is just... so fucked. I was infuriated when they went to a purely subscription model, and started claiming old, legitimate versions were pirated. But this new wave of nonsense is real, real bad. I've seen lots of artists talking about how yeah, this means they CAN'T use Adobe for their typical contract work, because of the IP concerns. Also, forcing you to agree in order to access ANYTHING, even to cancel, is scummy.
And no kidding. I'm really sick of just... fucking everything spying and moderating content.

Date: 2024-06-13 07:39 pm (UTC)From:I'd be completely unaffected by the recent changes if I was on the sub model, but it's the principle of the thing. They are a tool, nothing more. My camera doesn't get to have opinions on what photos I take, my software shouldn't care about what it edits.

Date: 2024-06-15 04:05 am (UTC)From:It's very much a principle thing, agreed. It seems to be something where a lot of people have that "well, if you aren't doing anything wrong, why are you worried? if you don't have something to hide..." but no! The tools I use should be under my control, not an external party's.
My word processor should not care and should not decide whether what I'm writing is acceptable. Cameras, editing software, art programs, etc. are supposed to be tools, not moderators.
