Me before and during the trip: Man, when I am back in Portland I am going to have to go hard, walk 'til my feet drop off, trying to stuff in all the photography I want to do!

Me now: You know what's nice? Being inside. Being out of the sun and the bugs and the (spoilers for my Chicago post) two hail storms I got caught in.

I have a whole list I want to do, but also I really like being inside and temperature control.

* If you didn't hear, a lost Bram Stoker story has been found. I am still looking for a good text transcript. The library intends to publish it soon, but it should be well within public domain. If people wanna pay for it, sure, but I was my free download for my Kindle.

Also, timing is perfect! For my reading journal that I will post about soon, either here or on the planners and journals comm, I got this stamp that needs using:

I had NOT heard about the Bram Stoker short story, somehow, so I'm glad you shared that!

I had heard about Markiplier's thing, but almost exclusively in context of the fuckery around them not being allowed to do any sort of promo. I feel like I should try to give it a watch.

I didn't know it was was based on an unfinished podcast. I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't have watched it if I knew. That never plays out well. And yeah, it's just a season one based on an unfinished story.

I still need to sit down and read the story. Days just keep seeming to end and start again somehow...

Ah, I also was unaware it was based on an unfinished podcast. (Or based on anything at all.) Though yeah, I don't love stuff that's sort of... inherently unfinished. :/ I realize sometimes I miss out on very good things that are simply incomplete, but I will probably give it a pass.

Time really does seem to keep passing at a frustrating rate!

Podcasts optioned for TV, whether or not the show gets made, I've seen this play out a number of times and it's never gone well. Honestly, at a point original audiodramas were blowing up and then the buzz lead to a bunch of TV optionings and then, yeah, it messed up the whole scene pretty bad. Even if creators had endings, they couldn't keep making episodes because it would spoil the TV show and then most of the shows never got made, just in dev hell for ages. One of the few that got made, it was Netflix so it went one season and the creator had moved on in the years it took to get done. If you ever watched Archive 81, that was the show.

A good percent of the most popular projects got ended by optioning.

It's funny, because I *just* finished watching Archive 81. I'd started watching it back when it first came out, but only made it through a couple episodes before the news of it being cancelled, and then I quit watching. Then Alex wanted to watch it and didn't remember that we'd even started, ha. It wasn't bad, but I didn't ever listen to the podcast, so I gather it was a bit different... but yeah, I can absolutely see how mixing a TV option with a story that *wasn't* yet complete would cause havoc for both "versions."

It's not surprising that a lot of things get ended by optioning, even if it ultimately ends up going nowhere. And with podcasts, it's a lot of people to wrangle if you're planning to continue the project after too long of a hiatus, and it's no surprise that people end up moving on.

Stopping production is often a condition of TV optioning. No point in a mystery plot TV series if the answer is already out there. Even when the show goes nowhere, rights don't revert for at least a decade in most cases.

I wanted to watch Mark's show, but it's only available in the US! I could ask some of my American friends if they don't mind sharing their passwords, but it feels so awkward >_

Are there discords? They often have files. It's not a finished story, turns out. It's based on an unfinished podcast and I've never seen that play out well. I hope it does this time?

IDK any discords! I also tend to either join really big official fan discords or small private friend servers, with no in-between. u_u Tho yea, I could probably find it on pirate sites, but I wanted to show my support by bumping up the number of watchers, or whatever amazon measures a show's success by.

I had no idea what it was based off tbh. I heard the title before but don't know much about it. And yea, I also hope it goes well!
