NYC Trip Day 4 Part 1 - Wandering and The Highline

I started the day just heading out from my hotel to the areas I can see from my window. I'd never been in the Bowery before this trip, but I did recognize some intersections and buildings from photos.







And then I wound up in Greenwich Village, which I had actually ventured into as a teenager a few times. I didn't try to sneak into clubs or anything, so I just went there to buy comics and eat pizza back in the day.





I hadn't planned on going to see Stonewall because I knew the building was partially covered by construction. The park and interpretive center are relatively new and I'm not sure I was aware of them. So, it was another day of unexpectedly intense emotions seeing it. I wish I'd had a chance to go there during an age when I could have met people, etc, but time is what it is.

Then I walked over to Highland, which is a park made out of the old elevated freight track running through Manhattan. I love it. I wanted to go back and explore it more another day, but I ran out of time.

I got off two shots before someone noticed me taking a picture of something and rushed towards it to get a good shot.







The park has varying levels and also some old spurs, like this one that lets you just hang out over the car traffic:

nice birb! I love the whole idea of The Highline - it's one of the (many) cool things people do to reclaim spaces. glad you got there, even if you couldn't spend as long as you'd have liked

I love finding new ways to make parks and third spaces like that. It's amazing how well it's designed and the artistic elements to it. I wanted to shoot it from the ground and hit some of the cafes and stuff under it, but ran out of time

I feel like Stonewall would give me feelings. I am happy to see all the trans stickers on the sign, even if I'm infuriated at why they're there.

Great shots of the starling; sucks that someone else rushed over because you were taking pictures.

The selfie with the traffic behind you - including a photogenic number of classic cabs - is a good shot.

I am really glad the stickers were there, but coming across that was a lot.

I am in love with that park and the weird uses of space and the photo ops it creates. Really an amazingly done project
