Jul. 8th, 2020 01:05 amTuesday Night, pandemic surging ... and there is a line down the block at Salt & Straw at 9:30 PM.
Okay, full disclosure, I know this because my play for the night was to pick up a scoop of vegan peanut butter 'Captain Munch' ice cream at the start of my photo walk. But not only was the line too much, but they just changed flavors. They didn't have that or any other flavor I was interested in. I am still sad covid lockdown hit just as the caramel and thai chili had just come back into rotation.
I've been trying to go out every other day, no excuses, but damn going out on the 4th was a bad plan. Also, trying to inch my start time earlier to have some light is also a bad plan. Way too many people out. I need to start at 11:00 PM at the earliest.
Shooting at midnight in a city that loves tree canopies and isn't hot on street lights is not always going great. I hate the look of flashy and wont use it. My attempts at using an off-camera portable light source to provide at least a teeny amount of light, also not going great. I might get an LED panel meant for off camera compact lighting and see if that takes the edge off of the ISO.
