Mar. 30th, 2022 11:45 pmI went to After Dark: Medieval Science event at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry tonight. The museum re-opening as a bar and having medieval exhibits sounds awesome, but the After Dark events are hit or miss. They really bank on how awesome 'science museum as bar' sounds. There were few exhibits and the blacksmith demos were cancelled due to some technical issue. There were lots of fighting demos, though.
I was going to go as a stopover on a long walk, but idiot me forgot my vacc card. I'd never needed to actually bring it anywhere before. I realized partway there and had to dip back home and nab it, and then take the bus down. I did walk back. On my way home I took a few pics. I also stopped at 50 licks and ordered two mini scoops. I got vegan mango sticky rice ice cream and lemon saffron vegan ice cream. It had been ages since I went to a 50 licks. Their stuff is so good. The flavors pop. Since it was the end of the night the guy actually gave me normal scoops and also some extra lemon saffron to end out a barrel. I ordered mini size and he gave me an extra large. So, I am currently stuffed.
One of the weirdest things about walking in Portland right now is that many of our garbage cans are out of service. At the start of the pandemic, for some reason, the city drastically reduced how many trash cans were out on street corners and bus stops. I have no idea why... I am sure there was some reason but it made things a lot messier. Anyway, new cans have been installed, but aren't 'in service' yet and are sealed in layers of plastic. So, tons of trash cans... but you can't put anything in them. It's been like this for a few weeks now.
