Didn’t Verizon just buy Tumblr? I thought that was the reason for all the purged accounts.

Verizon bought Yahoo, who bought Tumblr a while back.

Tumblr lost a lot of value and users under yahoo and more under verizon. Now Tumblr is being sliced off and sold.
