GYWO is open for joining for a few weeks in December. It's a great writing comm. If you are looking for one, I do recommend it. I am dropping out, though. I will miss the posts and discussion, but the tracking styles aren't great for me. I overthink word count goals. As for habit goals, I had a migraine for 3 months at the start of the year. With my health stuff, I can easily be spun way off track in a way where I can't catch up and then feel bad.
I've been stunningly unproductive at writing this year. It's mostly due to medical stuff, my Dad's death, my big Alaska trip and other things. It's not that word tracking tripped me up that badly, but it didn't help.
I did do some good writing this year and I am trying to get a few projects out the door before the end of the year. I just sent one story off to a beta. If I can kick two more drafts into shape for posting before I am off to Mosier, I will be very happy. If I can get the Jeeves and Wooster steampunk fic out the door this year I'll be ecstatic, but that is likely not happening.
I think for me the goals tracking that works well would be 'published word count' and not just gross word count because I strip out a lot in editing. The GYWO style of tracking complicates my editing.
But the comm has been great for other people. But it always leaves me feeling like my goals are out of my reach.
But I am not going to dwell on that. I am just going to see what I can get posted before the year is out.
